How to check your e-invoicing set-up after the October 2026 MyInvois changes
1 November 2026 · How-to · Tech & digital
From 24 October 2026, MyInvois production limits monetary amount fields to 26 digits and passport numbers to 12 characters, and API errors now link to validator-specific reference pages. Ask your e-invoicing or ERP provider to confirm both limits are handled and to use the new error references to clear any rejected documents.
What changed in MyInvois
LHDN's MyInvois SDK release notes list two sets of changes that reached the production environment on 24 October 2026. The first, announced on 6 August, adds length limits: all monetary amount fields, at both invoice and line-item level, may have at most 26 digits, and identification fields using the passport ID type may have at most 12 characters.
The second, announced on 25 September, adds validator-specific error reference pages covering structure, core fields, signature, taxpayer, referenced documents, codes, duplicate documents and currency. The standard error response in API validation results now links directly to these pages. The same release added an optional classification code filter to the Search Documents API.
Step-by-step check
- Ask your provider or in-house team to confirm the SDK changes of 6 August and 25 September 2026 were deployed before 24 October.
- Check that passport numbers for foreign buyers or employees are stored and sent without extra spaces or prefixes that push them past 12 characters.
- Check that amount fields are not sent with unnecessary decimal padding that could exceed 26 digits.
- Pull a list of documents rejected or marked invalid since 24 October and open the linked error reference for each.
- Fix the source data in your ERP, POS or billing system, not just the outgoing file, so the error does not repeat.
- Keep a short log of each fix for your auditor and tax agent.
Thresholds and penalties
The Star reported on 1 October that LHDN had raised the turnover threshold for the final phase of e-invoicing from RM1 million to RM3 million. Businesses near that line should confirm their position against the latest e-Invoice guideline on LHDN's website rather than relying on older guides.
LHDN has also said that businesses can correct e-invoice submission errors without penalty under its special voluntary disclosure programme, which it says runs until 31 December 2027.
When to get help
If rejections are coming from several systems, or your provider cannot say which SDK version you are on, an e-invoicing or ERP implementation partner can audit the integration. Ask for a fixed-price health check that covers validation errors, API version and data mapping. Our e-invoicing deadlines guide covers the phase dates.
